Poems in Three Languages invites de reader to the experience of multilingual poetry. Poems in English alternate with pieces in Spanish, while here and there modest effusions in Japanese are to be found whose visual poetry becomes perfectly understandable thanks to the explanations of the author.
A sense of tragedy for the mere fact of being alive in a world like ours permeates the collection, but outbursts of mystical yearning and ecstasy seem to contradict it, or perhaps just to complement it. Against this backdrop, a bunch of poems (or shreds of poetry, as the author calls them) have a more social or political turn, being envenomed darts against the mental dictatorship of today’s political correction.
